What is a belt lipectomy?
Unlike abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) which targets the stomach area,
a belt lipectomy (lower body lift) removes excess skin and fat around the entire lower torso.
It’s often chosen after significant weight loss when loose skin remains, but it can also be performed for body reshaping after pregnancy
or when stubborn fat and skin are not responding to diet and exercise.
Procedure information
Surgery typically starts with the patient positioned on the stomach while excess skin and fat are removed from the back, hips and buttocks.
The patient is then repositioned onto the back so the abdominal area can be addressed.
This may include muscle tightening (as required), creating a new belly button and securing the skin after removal. Drain tubes are placed,
and the area is dressed and covered for protection.
